Buying a home can be one of the most exciting times of your life, but it can also be one of the most stressful. Finding a deposit, trying to secure a mortgage, finding the right area to suit your needs; there’s lots to consider, and these can be even worse when you’re buying your first home. Riley & Carlene had all these concerns but said dealing with Laurus made the process a whole lot easier.
“We’ve settled in really fast and It was a really good experience, Esther, the sales advisor was really helpful. If we couldn’t get through to Esther, there was always someone else there, and we could always get what we needed. Everyone we spoke to was supportive, it made everything a lot easier for us throughout the whole process.”
Riley & Carlene decided to explore the route of shared ownership, a method which seems to be becoming more and more popular with first-time buyers. Despite this recent increase in popularity, many people are unfamiliar with the concept of shared ownership and how it can help first-time buyers get on the property ladder. Both Riley & Carlene admitted that opting to choose shared ownership as opposed to buying outright sped up the process and allowed them to start building a life in their dream home much faster.
“Branching out to shared ownership has helped a lot, and we’ve managed to be in the house within six months, it’s been a really fast turnaround. Without shared ownership, it would have definitely taken us a lot longer, and it would have taken us a lot longer to find somewhere like this, too.
“I would definitely recommend shared ownership to people, we’ve rented places, but a landlord could sell the property, whereas this can’t happen when you own a percentage of the home, and it gives you more security. There are people who are a lot older than us who’ve never owned a home but with shared ownership, it offers people of all ages a chance to own their own home.
“It feels like it’s given us a start to life, we always said we wanted to get a house first before we got married and we’ve always wanted to own our own home. I’d definitely recommend shared ownership.”
Thanks to shared ownership & Laurus, it wasn’t long before Riley & Carlene found a home they’re proud of, in an area they love.
“It has quite a village feel, and it seems like a very tight-knit community, everyone here seems like they want to make Partington a really good place to live. It’s a nice feeling knowing you’ll look out for each other and it’s nice knowing that you can build a community within the street you live. The development of Partington is really appealing; there’s a lot of potential here.”
