First-time buyers settle into their new home at Woodfield Road

“We were desperate to get on the property ladder, so we were looking on Rightmove for properties we could afford.”

——

Liam, co-founder of his family business producing a healthy children’s snack, said they were both living with their parents in Irlam when they started their property search:

“Even though Altrincham was one of our key locations, we’d originally ruled it out because we thought we couldn’t afford it, but suddenly we found Woodfield Road, and it was offering everything we were looking for!”

Teacher Amy was originally hesitant about an apartment instead of a house, but she was won over by the quality of the development: “We were originally looking at houses, but as soon as we saw the pictures of the apartments at Woodfield Road online, we were both really impressed with the quality and finish, particularly in the kitchen and bathrooms. We couldn’t wait to have a look around and see the apartment first-hand!”

Luckily for the couple, Laurus Homes were conducting an open day that weekend and, although Liam couldn’t attend, Amy went along with her mum to view

“I remember Amy coming home and was really excited about it, so we arranged another viewing as soon as we could for the both of us.”

“When we were looking around Woodfield Road together, we both knew it was perfect for what we needed. The development is modern, it’s close to our work, and there’s loads of places to eat and drink in the local area. For us, it was ideal – our mind was made up right then and there.”

After originally ruling out the Altrincham area because of price, it was a surprise to Liam and Amy to find not only that they could afford a property in their desired area, but one that ticked all the boxes.

“As first-time buyers, obviously price was a huge consideration for us, but we thought the price point was very reasonable for such an upmarket area like Altrincham.

We were also lucky enough to use the Government’s Help to Buy scheme to make the apartment even more affordable, so for us that was the icing on top of the cake”.

Once they had their finances in place – the couple received a financial boost from the Help to Buy Equity loan as well as their Help to Buy ISAs – the rest of the process went incredibly quickly.

“We were able to make an offer on our apartment within 2 weeks of seeing it for the first time, and even after we’d reserved, the process was really easy from start to finish.”

“We reserved on the last week of July, and had legally completed by the first week of October – we got the keys on the Friday and had moved in our stuff by Friday night! Laurus Homes were incredibly helpful throughout the whole process – they were always on top of the solicitors, pushing everything through as quickly as possible, and they even introduced us to the consultant who ended up doing our mortgage for us!”

The couple are now happily settled in their new home, and couldn’t be more complimentary of their new apartment:

“I can’t believe we managed to get a new-build apartment in Altrincham at such a good price. Compared to friends of ours who have bought properties in the area, our apartment is much better quality and more modern, so for us it’s everything we ever wanted!”
