LAURUS LIFE | Location Guide
Have you ever dreamed of living by the edge of Cheshire’s best-loved and most beautiful forest, but assumed that it wouldn’t be affordable, or that the home would be too remote and isolated? Our new Earlsbrook development in Delamere changes all of that, with a ready-made community of high-quality brand-new homes overlooking Delamere Forest in all its tranquil splendour.
Here’s everything you need to know about what living in Delamere would really be like:
Where else could we start but with Delamere Forest? It’s what’s left of the two great medieval Forests of Mara and Mondrem, which used to cover more than 60 square miles of this area of Cheshire. There were townships in these forests and over the centuries as they grew into the towns we recognise today, the woodland shrunk down to a smaller hunting forest that was eventually taken over by the Forestry Commission in 1924 and used for the production of timber.
Today it’s managed by Forestry England and, as well as being a beautiful woodland area, it’s also a hive of recreational opportunities that would be right on your doorstep. There’s three long-distance footpaths for those who like to wander – or jog - in the woods as well as circular paths that start and end at the Visitor Centre, and a host of cycling and horse riding trails as well as Segways to hire. For families, there’s also a Gruffalo Trail with sculptures and puzzles featuring the characters from that beloved book.
How many housing developments have a tree-top challenge courses on their doorstep? Earlsbrook does, with the Go Ape! course at Delamere, which offers the chance to tackle an aerial challenge involving zip wires, Tarzan swings, tightropes and nets as well as giving stunning views across the landscape. Just don’t look down!
With all of this on your doorstep, could there be anything else you’d need? Let’s see what else Delamere has to offer.
Earlsbrook’s location is certainly convenient for the Forest, but there’s plenty of other local attractions and amenities. For shopping, both Frodsham and Northwich are a short drive away, with bustling town centres packed with high street brands and intriguing independents to explore. Chester’s delightful historic city centre is also less than half an hour’s drive from Delamere, as are the many big name discounts on offer at Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet.
Living on the edge of a medieval Forest with easy access to all of this - plus both Manchester and Liverpool less than an hour away - means that you’ve got all the advantages of being close to these metropolitan areas with the peace and tranquillity your countryside surroundings. Both the M6 and M56 motorways are easily accessible from Earlsbrook.
Delamere railway station is just up the road with an hourly service between Chester and Manchester on the mid-Cheshire line, with Liverpool, Altrincham, Knutsford and Stockport all easily accessible, as well as connections on to the rest of the country. Having this right on your doorstep means you can get almost anywhere from your rural location without even getting in your car.
As if you didn’t have enough going on in your local Forest to keep you entertained, Earlsbrook is convenient for much more. Chester Zoo and Blue Planet Aquarium are both a short drive away and make for excellent family days out getting up close and personal with animals and exotic aquatic species from all over the world. Also just over 20 minutes away is the Ice Cream Farm, with its incredible indoor and outdoor play areas as well as a delicious range of ice creams to sample.
Even closer to home is Wild Shore Delamere, a water-based adventure hub, offering exciting activities like their Aqua Park – complete with the 3.8m inflatable tower, Mount Rainier - wakeboarding, stand-up paddleboarding and open water swimming, meaning there’s fun for everyone of all ages and abilities.

Another activity right on the doorstep of Earlsbook is Delamere Golf Course, ranked in the top 40 courses in England. Dating back to 1910 and restored in 2018 to its original heathland designs, it’s renowned for the challenging opening five holes and stunning setting amongst the Cheshire hills, whether you’re a golf pro or an enthusiastic amateur.
As you might expect, Delamere has more than its fair share of excellent country pubs nearby, including The Fishpool Inn in Delamere Forest, which is popular with walkers – and their dogs – and has a wide range of tasty treats on offer. For a change of scenery, the Riverside Inn at Acton Bridge sits on the banks of the River Weaver, making it a great spot for al fresco dining in the warmer months.
Another popular local pub is the Vale Royal Abbey Arms in Oakmere, while there’s great food on offer at cafes like the Station House at the railway station or the café in Delamere Forest. The Fourways Café & Grill is the perfect spot for a full English breakfast and there’s Cantonese, Pekingese and Thai dishes on offer at the Delamere Fortune Palace.

There are several high-performing secondary schools in the area, like The Grange and St Nicholas RC High School in Northwich, and high schools in Weaverham, Tarporley and Helsby.

The surroundings of the village are as rustic as you could hope for, with the Grade II-listed St Peter’s Parish Church dating back to the early 19th Century, while there are two prehistoric forts in the area to discover.
