Life in Congleton

One of Congleton’s nicknames is ‘the Little Town with the Big Heart’ and it’s rightly well known for its community spirit and the way residents pull together to support each other and work for the benefit of the whole town - as shown by the Congleton in Bloom scheme. This sees the town centre become a spectacular floral wonderland every spring, earning regional and national prizes.

A thriving market town within easy reach of Manchester, Liverpool and Chester, Congleton has a lot to offer from its Makers’ Markets and pedestrianised high street with a diverse range of independent shops to the iconic Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre, which is just 20 minutes away.

Congleton is home to two golf courses, set to the stunning backdrop of the surrounding countryside, and there’s plenty of sporting action going in the town.  There’s Congleton Town football club, youth team Vale Juniors and amateur teams playing rugby and cricket too, along with fitness clubs and studios where you can keep fit and active.

Congleton is within easy reach of the M6 and A34 between Stoke and Manchester, while buses run to most surrounding towns, and Giantswood Grove is close to the new link road, providing even easier access to the likes of Sandbach, Macclesfield and Alderley Edge. The train station meanwhile is on the Manchester to Stoke-on-Trent branch of the West Coast Main Line, while stations in Crewe and Macclesfield are a short drive away for other connections.

Living in Congleton means having access to a range of excellent schools. There are ten primary schools in the town, while older children can attend either Congleton High School or Eaton Bank Academy. Younger kids meanwhile will love nearby pirate-themed adventure playground Castaway Play at Congleton Garden Centre.
